Miami: prepare to be wow-ed this December with a new and unique one-of-a-kind arts experience! From December 1-4, in the heart of the Wynwood Art District, you will be introduced to more than 120 of South Florida’s best and artists from all around the world. By encompassing almost 5,000 square feet, Multiversal will showcase their best visual and performance works under tented and open-air space in this can’t miss event.

As my first time being a part of Art Basel, I want to thank all my fans and supporters for constantly pushing me when I was ready to give up. I only hope to continue making people proud and most of all, making people fall in love with my photography.

“When I find myself reading how other photographers started, their stories start when they’re fairly young, toying with cameras and Polaroids. I was not as fortunate, and in my case it didn’t “click” until much later.

I was always intrigued by black and white film photography and the process of printing and developing so when I graduated high school, I decided to take a couple of classes. Even though my first professor practically told me that I had no vision or future as a photographer and I should move on to my next career choice, I decided to stick it through one more semester. My interaction with my new professor was much better; I became more comfortable and confident.

Although the feedback was still harsh, it was constructive and my spirits were never broken. I would photograph random things and as the class progressed, I found myself thinking, “Let me think outside the box and go a little daring.” It was then when I decided to photograph the birth of my cousin.

My portrayal of the birth was pretty graphic and by that I mean crowning, blood and other fluids, all raw and unedited. The class was taken aback by it! I enjoyed the “wow” factor and I remember thinking, “This is the reaction I wanted.” My last project that semester was photographing a lesbian couple I knew. When I stood up after the professor asked whose work it was, people were shocked. I had successfully pushed the envelope…”

“La Bodega” or “Ojeda’s Bodega” is a project that started in 2009 by Jose Antonio Ojeda. He has a studio located in the MFA Headquarters of Stony Brook University. He has since been turning it into a hybrid studio/exhibition space. Most recently, it has become the home base for the audio podcast/ustream show “Ojeda’s Bodega” which features artist interviews/creative sessions.

 A collection of beyond stellar talent will be showcased throughout a hidden Miami jewel, Villa 221, a large event complex situated between Wynwood and Downtown that features several gallery rooms, multiple bar areas, and an outdoor patio where live artists will be at work. “Diamonds-N-The-Ruff” will feature scores of well-known and emerging local artists, performers, exhibitors and DJ’s while serving as an after party for Miami’s wildly popular Wynwood Art Walk. In addition, this event will also serve as a fundraiser for Multiversal 2011, an art collaborative, which will take place at this year’s Art Basel.

Denise Diaz, photographer by choice, observer by nature, has been capturing moments for as long as she can remember. The 28 year-old, energetic, pseudo-paparazzo is easily spotted amongst friends, as she’s always the lively individual with camera in tow.

Now dipping her toes into Nude Photography, Diaz has caused a commotion and gained new fans with her daring direction.

When asked for a mission statement, the response was, “I don’t have one, I just want to photograph.”
